Matthew’s Wish

To Meet the Irish Rugby players

Matthew, aged 12, is living with a rare genetic disorder, Joubert Syndrome. Matthew is a massive Rugby fan and loves to wear the Irish Rugby jersey and watch every game at home with his mam and dad.

He is inspired by the Irish Rugby Players and mum told us how Matthew is fascinated by how strong they are.

With the incredible support of Irish Rugby, Matthew and his family travelled to the High-Performance Institute, where they got to see the Irish Rugby team train!

After the training session, the players walked over to meet Matthew and his family! Matthew couldn’t contain his excitement, beaming as he shook hands and gave the thumbs up to all of his heroes.

Matthew’s dad Enda said afterwards “Massive thanks to Make-A-Wish Ireland and also the IRFU for making this fantastic dream come true for my son and all our family.”

A huge thank you to the IRFU for helping us to grant such a special wish, and to all the players for making Matthews wish a reality.

Together we can make a difference for children.

Make-A-Wish Ireland has one simple aim – to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions, to bring hope, strength and happiness.

With your kind support, you can help us achieve that aim.
