Franek lives with a critical medical condition and has received frequent medical treatment from Crumlin Hospital for the past 13 years. However, Franek doesn’t let his illness affect his passionate outlook on life and music!
Growing up, he would hear his mum, Titania singing as part of her local choir, and this made him fall in love with classical music! When Franek’s application came into Make-A-Wish, he was already set on what his wish would be. When our wishgranting team met with Franek and his dad, we learned about his passion for Andrea Boccelli. Andrea is Franek’s favourite singer in the world, and he loves to listen to his music with his family. He has been trying to see him in concert for years but hadn’t had the chance to see him live yet!
Franek wished to see his hero in concert, and his wish came to life at the end of April! Franek, Mum Tatiana, Dad Waldemar and brother’s Tomaj and Anthoni all travelled to Dublin and checked into the fabulous Hilton Hotel in Charlemont, where the staff treated them like VIP’s, as they rested before the concert.
They then travelled to the 3Arena, where Franek and his family were whisked away to the private members club, enjoying refreshments in their private booth.
After the concert, the family got to go backstage, and to Franek’s surprise and delight, he got to meet Andrea Boccelli. Franek couldn’t believe his luck, and his family talked to Andrea about his passion for music and life.
The family told us afterwards:
“We don’t even have words to describe what a phenomenal experience it was for Franek but also for our whole family to be able to meet and greet Andrea Bocelli in person. His concert was a dream come true for Franek but also a once in a lifetime experience for us. We are forever grateful for this opportunity and cannot thank Make-A-Wish enough.”
