Darragh loves everything about animals and when it came to deciding his wish, he knew it was going to be about animals. Although local to Fota Wildlife Park, Darragh wanted to get an insight to what goes on behind the scenes at the Wildlife Park when caring for the animals.
For Darragh’s wish day, Darragh and his family arrived at Fota Resort to start his wish day in style by staying in a self-catering lodge. Then they all went to Fota Wildlife Park where they met our volunteer Michelle and photographer Matt who joined the family for the zookeeper experience. The Fota Wildlife zookeeper Lesly took them behind the scenes to learn about the workings of Fota Wildlife Park and caring for the animals there.
Darragh and his family enjoyed a day feeding the giraffes, checking out the cheetah’s run, feeding the Rhinos and the penguins and exploring different types of animal eggs, as well as listening to Lesly’s cool facts and interesting stories. Darragh told us his favourite part was being able to touch a rhino and rub a giraffe. All these special moments were captured by Matt while Darragh enjoyed family fun on his wish day.
