Katie’s Wish

To Have Sensory Equipment

Meet fifteen-year-old Katie, from Offaly.

Katie was born with a severe global developmental delay, and when our team got to know more about her, they learned that Katie engages incredibly well with sensory equipment. It soothes her, boosts her concentration, and supports her learning. Katie’s favourite place is the sensory room at her school, where she feels calm and engaged.

While she was receiving care at the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar, nurses encouraged the family to apply for a wish, knowing how meaningful sensory support is for Katie. Her wish was to have bespoke sensory equipment that she could enjoy every day.

Katie’s wish came to life recently, when our volunteer Noel kindly put together the carefully chosen equipment, including a Bubble Wall and Specialised Lighting, to create a calming sensory space tailored just for her. Katie’s wish transformed not just her room, but the way she experiences her world. Her sensory equipment helps to bring renewed comfort and joy into her everyday life.

Together we can make a difference for children.

Make-A-Wish Ireland has one simple aim – to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions, to bring hope, strength and happiness.

With your kind support, you can help us achieve that aim.
