Philip was diagnosed with Hemimegalencaphy, a rare neurological disease, at just 6weeks old. He has undergone regular treatment at Temple Street Children’s University Hospital for most of his life, and deals with seizures and scoliosis as a result of his illness.
When we talked with Philip’s mum Carmel, we learned that he loves to go away with his family and enjoys the comfort and luxury of staying in a new place. As we learned more about him, it became clear that a family staycation would be the perfect wish for Philip and Centre Parcs would be the perfect place.
On the day of his wish, Philip and his family travelled to Centre Parcs in Longford for a weekend they wouldn’t forget. They checked in to their own lodge that was accessible for Philip and his needs, which provided the ultimate comfort for him and allowed him to enjoy his staycation to the fullest. Throughout the weekend, Philip and his family enjoyed everything from getting up close to baby owls to swimming in the Subtropical Swimming Paradise, from exploring the forest and adventure golf, to The Pancake House for breakfast!
Carmel told us afterwards “Thanks so much for Philip’s wish, we had an amazing time. The bikes were fantastic, Philip really enjoyed them, and he absolutely loved the wheelchair accessible swimming pool. We all had the best holiday ever, with no stress, it was a dream come true.”
A huge thank you to everybody at Centre Parcs for helping to make Philip’s wish come true.
