When Róisín met with our Make-A-Wish volunteers Ruth and Rachel to start her wish journey, she made it clear that a zookeeper themed wish was what she wanted the most.
The Wishgranting team got to work and reached out to the team at Dublin Zoo and together they planned an animal fueled, zootastic wish for Róisín. With the excitement of Róisín’s wish day building as the days went on, the weekend of Róisín’s wish arrived at the end of November. The magic really started with a trip to the zoo after hours where Róisín, her cousin Fiadh, Mum Christina, Auntie Myra and Grandmother Betty went to the Wild Lights the evening before Róisín’s wish day. They got to know their way around the zoo while enjoying all the different light displays on show in Dublin Zoo.
The next day Róisín and her family arrived at Dublin Zoo bright and early for Róisín’s zookeeper wish! Róisín was greeted at the gates by Wishgranter Jack, volunteer Jasmine and Zookeeper Christina, and our photographer, Dermot, who joined to capture all the magical moments of the day.
Róisín spent the day meeting lots of different animals and their zookeepers too. Róisín listened to every fact given by each zookeeper and even got her hands dirty when she had a chance to feed the animals. Róisín’s favourite animals are the wolves, so a highlight of the day was when she got to meet and feed the five wolf brothers in Dublin Zoo!
After Róisín’s wish day, mum reached out to us to say “We had the most amazing weekend… it was magical, we will never forget it. The team just couldn’t do enough, each person was so kind and considerate. The atmosphere was so happy and joyful. You have given us such treasured memories; it was an unforgettable day… We all cannot thank you enough, Róisín’s wish really came true, thank you again for making it happen”
