Ted has always been musical, and is a self-taught piano, violin and claranet player. He has a passion for learning new instruments, and loves the journey it takes him on, being able to develop new skills and see how he can progress and improve.
Ted was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Luekemia in 2018, at just 9 years old, and has recieved treatment in Cork Univeristy Hospital. One of the things that brought Ted strength during his treatment was his love for music, and specifically learning new instruments. During his time at Cork University Hospital, his consultant Clodagh encouraged him to apply for a wish.
When our volunteers Louise and Lindsay met with Ted, his love for music shone through, and he told us all about his new found love for the Saxaphone. When Ted’s wish day arrived, our volunteers travelled to Cork to deliver Ted his brand new Yamaha Saxaphone!
Ted’s mum told us afterwards: “Thank you all so much, I honestly can’t thank you enough. The sax is incredible of course, but the whole experience today, and the care shown in choosing the extra gifts, is just overwhelming. We’re so grateful to everyone at Make a Wish for helping us mark the end of this terrible chapter in such a joyous way. Bring on the future!”
