Joe is 6 years old and from County Cork. Joe loves to have fun, and really enjoys playing with his baby sister, and his friends at school, as well as spending time with his Mum & Dad, and eating chocolate cake. Joe is also Super Mario & Luigi’s number 1 fan! When we asked Joe what he thinks about before he falls asleep at night, he told us that he dreams of Super Mario & Luigi.
Joe is living with Wilms Tumour. When he was diagnosed last year, Joe started watching Super Mario & Luigi. Joe soon fell in love with the characters, and they have been a constant in his life over the past couple of years. When asked what he wanted to wish for, Joe told us that he was wishing for a Nintendo Switch console so that he could play lots of Super Mario & Luigi games and connect with his cousins and friends.
With the help of two of Make-A-Wish Ireland’s amazing volunteers, Joe was granted his wish with a surprise visit from his favourite characters, who delivered his new Nintendo Switch to him in person. Super Mario & Luigi were delighted to present Joe with his wish and even more delighted to have the chance to share some delicious cake in the sunshine with him and his family.
Joe’s mum told us that, on his wish day, Joe was “the happiest boy in the world”. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped make this happen! Thank you to our volunteers Louise & Caoimhe (AKA Super Mario & Luigi), and to Celebrate with Cake! for the delicious cake and cupcakes.
