Ben joined Make-A-Wish in March 2024. He has eight years experience in marketing and fundraising roles across Australia, Canada and Ireland, and is passionate about bringing the transformational power of wishes to every child facing critical illness.
We caught up with Ben to talk about his experience.
‘When a child is diagnosed with a critical illness, their world is turned upside-down. Waiting rooms and doctors appointments replace enjoying time with family and friends. But wishes have the power to change that. They give children the chance to dream, and to imagine a life beyond their illness. They provide hope, for our wish children, their families, and their community. We’re on a mission to make sure that every critically-ill child across Ireland gets to experience their life-changing wish.
A moment I will always remember is talking to a wish mother about her daughters recent wish to enjoy a family getaway. She told me “This wish was so much more than a holiday. It was the dream we had spoken about in hospital rooms. It was the thought that helped calm her before anaesthetics. It was the bright little light she held onto through long days, scary moments, and months spent far from home.’
Seeing the incredible impact wishes have on children and their families is inspiring, and motivates me every day to make more wishes come true.”
