Nicola is a qualified accountant since 1999 and has worked at management level across a number of sectors including events, financial services, industry and for the last 20 years in the not-for-profit sector.
Nicola is passionate about working in an environment where she has a strong belief for the mission of the organisation. Make-A-Wish, as a children’s charity, is something that is close to her heart and she feels privileged to be part of a team that makes the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions come true.
Nicola enjoys travel, but also spending time at home with her family, which includes two very much loved dogs!
We caught up recently with Nicola, to talk about here experience with Make-A-Wish Ireland.
“It is a privilege to be part of a team and community that come together and grant life changing moments in time for a child and their family. Not just to witness the happiness and joy that a period of respite can provide during an incredibly difficult time but also knowing all the memories that can be kept and treasured long after a wish has been granted.”
“So many wishes inspire me. But I especially think of the wishes where members of the community come together to help make a wish happen. Those moments really do stay with me, to see the empathy, compassion and kindness of others. One wish that I always think of is where a child wished to have a Lamborghini experience. So many people came together to make this a special experience, including the Lamborghini owner who drove quiet a distance to the child’s home, the neighbours and community that gathered outside the house to greet and cheer on the child getting into the car, the Garda who provided an escort and even cordoned off a section of the motorway (these were covid restriction times, so it was a lot quieter!!!). It truly was a very special wish.”
