Wish Granter

Brendan comes to us with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics and more than 10 years’ experience working with children. He is passionate about providing life-changing experiences for wish children and their families. We caught up with Brendan to talk about his experience.

“Having worked with children with critical illnesses for so long, I’ve seen first hand the difference wishes can have on their health journey. Having a wish gives a child something to be excited for and something to celebrate. Whether a wish happens during or after treatment, it gives something back to children that was unfairly taken from them. It’s such a privilege to be invited into these families lives and to be a part of that experience.”

‘A wish that really stands out to me was a wish child who wanted to be an actor. Hearing how she had been starring in school plays and was now “ready for a serious role” really gave me a lot to work with as a wishgranter. In the end, so many people offered to help make this dream come true and she had her wish of being on a proper set, reading lines with some truly brilliant established actors, and getting a tour of a professional film studio. The generosity of everyone involved blew me away and the impact it had on the family was palpable. It’s a real honour to be a part of a memory like that in someone’s life.’
